Jeff Herman helps employers of all kinds design, draft, administer and defend their employee benefit plans. He also helps construction companies and other businesses navigate the pitfalls of multiemployer pension plan withdrawal liability. His extensive experience with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) law gives him a deep understanding of how to navigate complex benefits laws.

Jeff’s experience includes: qualified plans under Code Sections 401(a) and 401(k); employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs); tax-sheltered annuity plans under Code Section 403(b); nonqualified deferred compensation plans under Code Sections 409A, 457(b) and 457(f); severance plans; non-ERISA plans, such as church plans and governmental plans;  disability and life insurance plans; multiemployer plans and multiple employer plans, including Association Health Plans; and group health plans, including medical, vision and dental plans, as well as HSAs, FSAs and HRAs.

Jeff writes frequently on employee benefits and health law topics for publications including the ABA Journal of Labor & Employment Law, the Taxation of Exempts, and the Journal of the Missouri Bar. Prior to joining Greensfelder, Jeff spent several years representing clients who were seeking benefits under ERISA, giving him a perspective that encompasses the legal considerations from both the employee and employer viewpoints.
