Appellate Practice

Our experienced group of attorneys has substantial experience in appellate litigation in a variety of jurisdictions. Our team approach combines the skills of trial and appellate lawyers, especially in larger cases involving significant financial exposure or important legal issues.

Members of the appellate practice group assist the firm’s trial lawyers in analyzing affirmative defenses and legal strategic issues and in preparing various motions and documentation. They also perform the critical function of identifying substantial legal issues and preserving those issues for appellate review. Individual members of the appellate group also practice in areas such as commercial, products liability, antitrust and constitutional litigation and serve as appellate liaisons with the lawyers who practice in these areas.

We follow substantive law developments in the state and federal courts and are sensitive to procedural issues such as removal, personal jurisdiction, subject matter jurisdiction and abstention. We also monitor judicial trends and changes in procedural rules in state and federal jurisdictions.
