June 1, 2022

Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C. is pleased to announce that Benjamin D. Rotman has joined the firm as counsel in its Intellectual Property practice group.

Rotman focuses on a wide range of complex matters, including U.S. and foreign patent and trademark prosecution, IP portfolio development and management, availability searches and clearance opinions, copyright registration, internet domain disputes, and online enforcement actions. He is based in the firm’s Chicago office.

With over a decade of experience in patent and trademark prosecution as well as product design and assembly development, Rotman provides his clients with a distinctive perspective to guide them through their day-to-day operations. His mechanical engineering degree and previous role as a senior mechanical engineer at a consumer electronics and telecommunications company gives him a technical level of understanding of clients’ products and their needs.

His background includes mechanical and electro-mechanical component and assembly design, and service design. He was also involved in product development, project prototyping, materials analysis and research, design of experiments, tolerance analysis, statistical analysis, and intellectual property development.

Before joining Greensfelder, Rotman worked at a Chicago-area law firm where he counseled on U.S. and foreign patent and trademark prosecution and IP portfolio management. He earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
