Charitable organization recognizes Leonard Vines at 2022 Honors Dinner
The Metro Area Professional Organization (MAPO), a Southern Illinois-based non-profit organization, recently honored Greensfelder Officer Leonard Vines as a “professional with a caring spiritual character and ambition to serve humanity.” The recognition coincided with MAPO’s 12th Honors Dinner at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on May 21, 2022. Sekhar Prabhakar accepted the award on Vines’ behalf.
MAPO’s mission is to aid the hungry and homeless by partnering to support shelters throughout the Metro East and offering scholarships to support youth. At the honors dinner, the group honored professionals in areas including law, government, clergy, education, medicine, veterans, media, entrepreneurs and youth.
In summer 2021, Vines introduced MAPO co-founder Dr. Dorothy Owens to Greensfelder’s Intellectual Property group in an effort to provide pro bono legal support to the non-profit. “With their focus on providing such important services to the community, we wanted to help ensure MAPO also had the support they needed to continue to thrive,” Vines said.
Susan Meyer, leader of Greensfelder’s trademark team, strategized with Dr. Owens on protecting the organization’s logo and plans for the future. Rochelle Randles, Greensfelder’s lead trademark paralegal, ensured the MAPO mark was successfully registered in Illinois and Missouri for charitable fundraising services.
“It was a sincere pleasure working with Dr. Owens and becoming familiar with the positive impact MAPO makes in the community,” Meyer noted, echoing Vines’ support of the organization. “We look forward to working with Dr. Owens and the rest of the MAPO team on future projects.”
