Greensfelder names Chris Pickett as chief diversity officer
Christopher A. Pickett has been named Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale’s first chief diversity officer, effective Jan. 4, 2016. In this role, Pickett will lead the firm’s efforts to foster an increasingly diverse and inclusive workplace and to recruit and retain diverse talent.
Pickett is an officer in the firm’s litigation practice, leader of the Securities & Financial Services industry group and co-leader of the Trade Secrets/Restrictive Covenants group. He represents clients from across the country in an array of business litigation and employment matters, particularly in the areas of securities and higher education. He will maintain his active litigation practice in addition to assuming the role of chief diversity officer.
Since joining Greensfelder in 2012, Pickett has helped lead the firm’s diversity initiatives as chairman of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. In addition, in 2013, he was named as a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity fellow, participating in a national leadership program for high-performing attorneys from diverse backgrounds. In those roles, Pickett has worked closely with J. Danielle Carr, who served as the firm’s director of professional development and inclusion and recently announced her departure from the firm.
“Greensfelder continues to make great strides in diversity and inclusion, attracting growing numbers of women and minority attorneys. I look forward to building on the progress Danielle has led to expand those initiatives,” Pickett said. “Having a diverse team of professionals is vital to our ability to provide innovative strategies and solutions for our clients.”
Greensfelder’s diversity efforts have been recognized with numerous awards in the St. Louis region, and in 2015, the firm was named among the “100 Best Law Firms for Female Attorneys” by one of the legal industry’s top publications, Law360.
