Once again, the ABA Forum on Franchising will be recognizing former Greensfelder partner John Baer through the award of a scholarship in his name.
The John R. F. Baer Scholarship for International Civility and Professionalism will be awarded to a member of the Forum on Franchising who has demonstrated an interest in international practice in the field of franchise and distribution law and has demonstrated civility and professionalism in the practice of law. The American Bar Association is accepting applications for a Forum on Franchising scholarship established in memory of the late Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale partner John Baer.
In October 2015, the ABA Forum on Franchising established the John R. F. Baer Scholarship for International Civility and Professionalism. The scholarship will be awarded to an attorney who demonstrates Baer’s tradition of exceptional leadership and civility in franchise law, with an emphasis on international law. Baer, who was a member of Greensfelder’s Chicago office, died in 2015. He was the first recipient of the Forum's prestigious Lewis G. Rudnick Award in 2009 and was a member of the Forum’s governing committee from 2003 to 2006.
The American Bar Association’s annual Petroleum Marketing Attorneys’ Meeting took place on April 14 and 15, 2016. Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale attorneys Dan Garner, David Harris, Dawn Johnson, John Petite and Abby Risner attended the program in Washington, D.C, where industry speakers presented programs on important topics and emerging trends in the petroleum marketing industry. The American Bar Association has recognized a program co-presented by Greensfelder Officer Leonard D. Vines as the best of last fall’s ABA Forum on Franchising.
The American Bar Association’s annual Forum on Franchising took place recently, and Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale attorneys David Harris, Dawn Johnson, Beata Krakus, Kim Myers, Abby Risner and Leonard Vines, as well as franchise paralegal Tom Ligouri, attended the two-day program in New Orleans.
On Friday, April 11, 2014, Dawn Johnson will discuss some of the surprising ways that Big Data has impacted cases and identify strategies for using Big Data to your advantage while avoiding costly pitfalls in her presentation, “Big Data: Opportunities and Challenges in Litigation,” at the American Bar Association Petroleum Marketing Attorneys’ Meeting. Greensfelder is a Platinum sponsor for the event. Other Greensfelder attorneys attending the Petroleum Marketing Attorneys’ Meeting include Dan Garner, David Harris, John Petite and Abby Risner.
At the 36th Annual Forum on Franchising, Beata Krakus was recognized by the ABA with the Chair’s Future Leader Award. This award recognizes young and/or diverse Forum members who have demonstrated a substantial commitment to the Forum by undertaking significant leadership efforts, such as mentoring other Forum members or law students interested in pursuing careers in franchise law; working on membership marketing or other outreach efforts; assistance with special projects undertaken by the Forum Governing Committee or a Forum Division; or assisting with the Forum's annual meeting.
