Josh Stevens’ private practice focuses primarily on partnership disputes in closely-held businesses in Illinois and Missouri. He also maintains an active practice for select clients as an adviser in strategic legal-centered business issues, including real estate investments, business acquisitions and divestitures, and significant operational matters. His current clients include businesses and organizations in the biotechnology, financial services, franchise, medical and not-for-profit sectors and range from start-ups to well-known middle-market companies.
Outside the firm, Josh is the president, co-founder and co-owner of a health care management firm focused on operating assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care facilities. His firm employs a team of more than 500 people in Illinois and Missouri. Josh oversees the day-to-day operations of multiple health care facilities, including accounting, asset management, compliance, financial planning and reporting, human resources, nursing and patient care, and all other operational leadership functions. He also serves as the executive vice president and general counsel of a group of related firms that provide private equity, real estate development and construction services in the long-term care industry with an emphasis on senior living. In that capacity, Josh is a decision maker regarding the creation, implementation and ongoing management of business ventures in long-term care and senior living industries.
Josh is also an investor and adviser in multiple business ventures, including in the health care, biotechnology, and e-commerce technology industries. He approaches the private practice of law through the lens of his day-to-day responsibilities as a business owner and leader.
During law school, Josh was an intern for the Honorable Raymond W. Gruender of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. He also was a mediator at the Better Business Bureau of St. Louis. Before law school, he was a marketing consultant for several area health care companies and a wholesale mortgage banker for a Fortune 500 financial institution.
Prior to undergraduate studies, Josh was an enlisted member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
