Product Liability

Greensfelder’s product liability practice is extensive and experienced, involving the representation of product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in federal and state court on a local, regional, and national basis, as well as before administrative agencies. Our Practice Group’s experience covers numerous manufacturing sectors, including automotive, trucks, motorcycles, tires, restraint systems, heavy and industrial equipment, friction products, mining equipment, machinery, drugs and pharmaceuticals, medical devices, electrical equipment and components, chemical products, and consumer products.

Product liability issues arise in a variety of contexts. Greensfelder has a diverse group of attorneys, paralegals and support personnel adept at handling a wide array of product based cases, as further supported by the Firm’s skilled lawyers specializing in class action, appellate, and intellectual property issues.

Because of the Firm’s geographic location (metropolitan St. Louis and Southern Illinois) a significant volume of our product liability practice occurs in the challenging venues of Madison and St. Clair counties in Illinois and the City of St. Louis. In addition, the Group represents several manufacturers in defense of hundreds of mesothelioma asbestos cases pending in Madison County and the City of St. Louis.

The members of our Practice Group seek to provide the highest quality legal representation with great integrity and in a manner consistent with our clients’ business objectives. To fulfill those goals, we work hard to understand not only the particular product at issue, but also the nature and needs of all aspects of our clients’ business operations, including the science, manufacture, marketing, sale, and end use of their respective products. This model allows us both to intelligently defend the case at hand, as well as creatively assist our clients in improving risk avoidance.

Members of this Practice Group are dedicated to promoting product liability issues significant to product manufacturers. To that end, we actively participate in the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC), the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), Defense Research Institute (DRI), and similar organizations.
