Mr. Riess is an Officer of the Corporate Practice Group. He negotiates, plans and drafts uniform franchise offering circulars, franchise agreements, subfranchisor agreements, area development agreements, distribution and supply agreements, manufacturing agreements, commercial real estate leases and sales agreements, real estate development agreements, license agreements, lease/sale agreements, maintenance agreements, option agreements, stock and asset purchase agreements and a wide variety of other commercial agreements.
Mr. Riess is a Certified Public Accountant and has extensive Big Eight accounting and Fortune 500 finance and management experience.
Mr. Riess also has extensive franchise and distribution experience. He represents many franchisees of national and international franchisors and represents regional, national and international franchisors.
As a commercial litigator, Mr. Riess defended and tried civil actions for breach of contract, quiet title, mechanic's liens, foreclosures, specific performance, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of covenants not to compete, fraud, misrepresentation and negligence.
Mr. Riess serves on the Board of Advisors for both Franchise Athletes (an organization dedicated to professional athlete investment in franchising) and the Franchise Brokers Association (a national trade association for franchise brokers). Mr. Riess is also a member of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants.
