We have one of the largest construction law practice groups of any firm in the Midwest. While Greensfelder is a full service law firm, our group includes attorneys whose practice is devoted exclusively to our construction industry clients. We know construction law. Equally important, we know the industry – the contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, owners and others – both public and private – who make up the construction business. Our industry familiarity is utilized to our clients’ advantage. We handle matters large and small – and most recently secured a verdict for a group of engineering and construction management clients who had been sued by a public owner seeking over $100 million. We were the lead counsel for this jury trial that lasted 100 days – the longest civil jury trial in the history of the St. Louis Courts.

Our construction practice covers the entire spectrum of the design and construction process, from contract advice, the drafting and negotiation of contract documents, the preparation and avoidance of claims, to the resolution of disputes through mediation, arbitration and litigation. We know about the variety of claims that affect the industry: contract performance, defaults, liens, delays, insurance and indemnity – to name a few. Regardless of complexity, we help to address and resolve the many problems and issues facing our construction industry clients throughout this process. We explore, evaluate and identify efficient and practical solutions.

We represent prime contractors, design-builders, specialty contractors, construction managers, design professionals, owners and developers, sureties and suppliers. And although the lawyers in our Construction Practice Group have considerable experience in practicing in the Midwest region, we also represent construction industry clients nationally and internationally. Our lawyers travel to project sites, mediation conferences, arbitration locales, and state and federal courts and boards of contract appeals across the country.

The attorneys in our Construction Practice Group are not only skilled in the practice of construction law, but also possess broad-based experience in the business of construction. Members of our group include licensed civil and mechanical engineers and architects. We are actively involved in industry organizations, including the American College of Construction Lawyers, American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry, the American Arbitration Association, the Associated General Contractors, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Our attorneys are also frequent lecturers at industry-sponsored seminars on construction related topics.
