Charitable Planning

Many of our clients have a significant charitable component in their personal lifetime and estate planning. We assist clients with a variety of techniques that allow them to make tax-advantaged gifts to charities of their choice, including Lifetime and Testamentary Charitable Lead Trusts (where one or more charities receive an income stream for a period of time, with the remaining property passing to family members); Charitable Remainder Trusts (where the donor retains an income stream from property ultimately passing to charity, or gives that income stream to other family members for their lives) and Private Foundations (which involves creating a vehicle to serve as a long-term entity for carrying out a client’s charitable goals). We also represent a number of St. Louis charitable entities in their own legal matters, assisting them in carrying out their goals and in raising funds to continue those efforts.
