Benefits for Tax - Exempt Organizations

We handle a number of plans that are categorized as church plans and, therefore, we have developed a unique and extensive understanding of how the special church plan rules operate. We represent churches, church agencies, and church-related schools and hospitals. A member of our Employee Benefits Practice Group, Daniel Schwartz, has co-authored a BNA portfolio on the topic of employee benefits for tax-exempt organizations.

Tax Sheltered Annuities (403(b) Plans)
Greensfelder lawyers have designed, drafted and counseled clients with respect to 403(b) plans. We have solved problems by creatively designing employer matching features and creative arrangements with insurance providers.

457 Plans
Both eligible and ineligible 457 plans present design challenges and opportunities for tax-exempt employers. Extensive experience in working with these plans has enabled our attorneys to understand the boundaries between creativity and noncompliance. To that end, Mr. Schwartz’s article on Section 457 plans and the BNA Portfolio of which he is the lead author are used by attorneys across the country with respect to 457 compliance.
